This series provides the reader with a comprehensive and authoritative source for research on the origins of sociology in the period 1880-1950 in North America and Great Britain. Each set contains an introduction, which locates the reference in its social and theoretical context. In addition to publishing authors, the series concentrates on schools, such as the Chicago School. Examining sociology's emergence from other disciplines including anthropology and political economy, the series addresses some of the major themes in social theory.
Future titles will include: The Collected Works of Karl Mannheim.
