This series begins with the idea that archaeological evidence, rather than revealing an objective truth, requires interpretation. Interpretation varies over time, not merely because new evidence emerges (which is the positive cause of change) but because ideas and attitudes among archaeologists also alter. The same evidence can be made to tell numerous and equally plausible stories. The experience of archaeology is how those views change over time...and why.
